A DELICIOUS CHOCOLATE PIE RECIPE
Southern Fudge Pie is an easy, crustless, homemade chocolate pie made with chocolate, sugar, flour, butter, eggs and pecans. Pure deliciousness! This recipe for is for all you choco-holics out there! This pie is pretty neat because it kind of makes its own crispy outer edge so no crust is needed. It slices up perfectly and is best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Absolutely delicious! I wouldn’t change a thing. So easy and everyone loved it!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
You can, but it isn’t necessary, the batter bakes up to form its own crisp edge and holds together perfectly without a crust.
The center should be firm and not jiggly when the pie is set. Bake until the outer edge is dome-like and the center no longer appears loose.
Yes, you can make it the day before, let it cool completely, then wrap and refrigerate. Just bring it to room temperature or warm slightly before serving.
If you’re not a fan of pecans, try swapping with walnuts or omitting nuts altogether for a smoother texture.
I think it looks its best when the slices are served with some ice cream or whipped cream and a little drizzle of Hershey’s chocolate sauce. But you can top with whatever toppings you enjoy.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Freezing is not recommended for this recipe, as the texture can change and the pie may lose its signature fudgy quality.

HOW TO MAKE SOUTHERN FUDGE PIE:
Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Spray a 9-inch pie plate with nonstick cooking spray. In a small saucepan, over low heat, cook butter and chocolate. Stirring often until melted (then take off heat).

Beat eggs at medium speed with an electric or stand mixer for 5 minutes. Gradually add sugar, beating until blended.

Then gradually add chocolate mixture.

Then add flour and vanilla extract, beating until blended. If you’re using a stand mixer, it’s important that you continually scrape down the sides so everything mixes evenly. Stir in 1/2 cup chopped pecans.

Pour batter into pie plate. Bake at 350F degrees for 35-40 minutes. The center should be firm when finished. Let pie cool.

Then slice and serve with ice cream, chocolate syrup and remaining chopped pecans.

Can you bake this pie in a throw away aluminum pie pan? I’m baking it as a gift 🙂
Maybe? I haven’t personally tried it. I don’t know how bad it will stick even with nonstick spray.
This was so easy and really flavorful! Reminds me of a pie my mom used to make. I made it exactly as written and had no issues.
