FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
You can melt the chocolate, peanut butter, and butter in the microwave. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth.
I have never tried it but I don’t see why not. That sweet and salty combination just might work well!
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
You sure can. In fact, why not make a double batch, enjoy some now and freeze some for later. Freeze in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE)
- semi-sweet chocolate chips– Use milk chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet, depending on your preference.
- creamy peanut butter– Swap creamy peanut butter for almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter for a nut-free option.
- unsalted butter – you can use salted butter if needed. There is so little salt in salted butter that it will not throw off the flavors.
- Peanut Butter Ritz Bitz – you don’t have to use the name brand. Many stores often have their own brand for a cheaper alternative.
- powdered sugar – you can toss these in powdered sugar two times if you like a thicker powdered sugar coating.

HOW TO MAKE RITZ BITS PUPPY CHOW:
In a medium saucepan, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and unsalted butter. Place the pan over low heat and stir constantly until the mixture is smooth and fully melted. Be careful not to let it scorch. If you overcook, it will seize up and you’ll end up with clumps and it won’t coat the crackers evenly.

Open the box of Peanut Butter Ritz Bitz and pour them into a large mixing bowl. Remove the melted chocolate mixture from the heat and immediately pour it over the Ritz Bitz. Use a spatula to gently toss and coat the crackers evenly.

Add the powdered sugar to the bowl. Toss everything together until the crackers are fully coated. If necessary, add a little more to make sure it is all fully coated. Alternatively, transfer the mixture to a large zip-top bag, add the powdered sugar, seal, and shake until coated.

Spread the coated Ritz Bitz onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper. Let them cool completely at room temperature for about 10 minutes. Once cooled, transfer the Puppy Chow to an airtight container or serve immediately. Enjoy!
