A RESTAURANT COPYCAT RECIPE
I was so happy with the way these Pizza Hut Cinnamon Sticks turned out! I tried making them a few different ways and I definitely found some tips and tricks that helped them turn out the best! If you’re a fan of this sweet treat from the restaurant, you’ll love these! Plus, I also love the regular breadsticks from Pizza Hut so much that I made a Homemade Pizza Hut Breadsticks version of those too!

If you use brown vanilla extract, your icing may have a brownish tint to it. If you want to avoid that, use clear vanilla. It all tastes the same so no worries!
Yes but you’ll need two separate baking dishes unless you have a larger pan with higher sides.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE)
- refrigerated pizza crust dough– you definitely need two tubes of this pizza dough. One just isn’t enough. Believe me, I tried that first. I wanted to keep these easy to make, so I used the store bought pizza dough tubes. You can use the store bought pizza dough balls if you prefer that. I haven’t tested this recipe with those, but if I were going to try making it with them, I’d lean towards using two of them so I know they’d come out thick enough. I guess it would just be personal preference.
- unsalted butter– salted butter could be used – not a problem. There is very little salt in salted butter that it really won’t make a huge difference at all.
- white granulated sugar
- ground cinnamon
- light brown sugar – if you don’t have brown sugar, you can use all white sugar for this. I like the depth of flavor the brown sugar adds though.
- powdered sugar
- clear vanilla extract– if you don’t have clear, you can use regular vanilla extract, but it’ll just make your icing have a slight brown color.
- milk – you don’t need much. Always start with a little at first, then whisk. Continue to add a little at a time until you reach your desired thickness.

HOW TO MAKE PIZZA HUT CINNAMON STICKS
Preheat oven to 400F degrees. Remove the pizza crust from the tubes and squish together to create one large dough ball. Allow it to come to room temperature. Melt the butter, then with a pastry brush, brush butter on the entire bottom and ½ way up the sides of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Combine the white sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of the mixture on top of the butter. Use 1 Tablespoon of the brown sugar and sprinkle it over the cinnamon sugar. Roll and stretch the ball of dough so that it will cover the bottom of the pan.
Place the dough in the pan and use your fingers to gently press and stretch the dough so that it reaches all sides and corners.

Take a pizza cutter and make one long cut down the long center of the pan. Then cut from one short side to the other creating 8 pieces on top and 8 on the bottom. If they pull apart a little, just squish them back down with your fingers. Brush the remaining butter over the top of the bread sticks.

Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon/sugar mixture evenly over the breadsticks. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly on top of the breadsticks. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-17 minutes or until the dough is cooked through. I use a fork to pull up a little of the dough to make sure it’s no longer raw. Add time if needed.

Remove from the oven allow to slightly cool. While the sticks are cooling, make the glaze. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla to a small bowl. Add the milk, one Tablespoon at a time, mixing thoroughly, until you reach your desired consistency. Drizzle some of the icing over the top of the breadsticks. Reserve the remaining icing for dipping!

- 2 (13.8 ounce) pizza crust dough tubes
- 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup white granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup packed light brown sugar (divided use)
- 1 ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract
- 2-3 Tablespoons milk (add a little to start then add more to thin if necessary)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400F degrees
- Remove the pizza crust from the tubes and squish together to create one large dough ball. Allow it to come to room temperature.
- Brush 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted on the entire bottom and ½ way up the sides of a 9×13-inch baking dish (you'll have some leftover and you'll use this in a bit.)
- Combine ¼ cup white granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of the mixture on top of the butter.
- Use 1 Tablespoon light brown sugar and sprinkle it over the cinnamon sugar (you'll use the remaining in a bit.)
