Baked Ham and Cheese Croissants
Baked Ham and Cheese Croissants are made with flaky, buttery croissants that are stuffed with ham and cheese and topped with a sweet glaze and baked until golden brown!
A 20 MINUTE HOT SANDWICH RECIPE
These croissant sandwiches were actually inspired by my Glazed Ham and Cheese Sliders. The glaze is really where all the action is – ha! I don’t know about y’all but croissants aren’t just a breakfast or lunch thing for me, I can eat them anytime of day so these baked croissants could be a quick dinner as well! Serve with some chips or a salad and dinner is served!

Thank you for sharing this recipe! Made for a quick dinner. The glaze was fantastic and was a huge hit with the fam!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
I like to serve them warm with a side of fruit or salad for a simple meal that feels a little extra special. They’re really great with a side of Italian Grinder Chicken Salad or Grape Chicken Salad too. Or as. I said above, it can be something as simple as potato chips!
I suppose you could swap the croissants for other bread choices – like dinner rolls. Thicker options would hold up over time better, especially with the glaze, but you can try other options.
These ham and cheese sandwiches are delicious, but I know they’d be just as delicious with turkey or chicken. You could even step out of the box a bit and use pepperoni instead of ham.
I love to warm up some raspberry preserves and dip these baked sandwiches in that. It’s SOOOO good – think Monte Cristo sandwich!
If you store these in an airtight container and keep them in the fridge, they’ll last up to 3 days. You can keep these wrapped tightly in the freezer for up to a month.
I prefer to reheat them in the oven at 350°F until they’re warm and crispy again. You could also reheat in the microwave or air fryer (until warm and the cheese is melted.)

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE)
- unsalted butter– You can use salted butter. There’s just not enough salt in the butter to make that much of a difference here really.
- honey – you could use agave or even maple syrup.
- brown sugar – I just use light brown sugar here.
- Dijon mustard – I suppose you could use yellow mustard but yellow mustard is much more tangy than Dijon so keep that in mind.
- salt and pepper
- croissants– halved
- ham slices – just use your favorite deli ham – I used honey ham.
- Swiss cheese slices – don’t like Swiss? Use cheddar, American, provolone, or really any cheese you enjoy eating with ham.
- poppy seeds – this is totally optional so don’t go out and buy them just for this. It’s more for looks than it is taste.

HOW TO MAKE BAKED HAM AND CHEESE CROISSANTS
Preheat the oven to 375° F. Spray a baking sheet or 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

In a bowl add the butter, honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until combined. Set aside.

To the baking dish, add the croissant bottoms. Top the croissant bottoms with a layer of the ham, then a layer of the cheese, and finally add the tops.

With a pastry brush, brush the melted butter mixture generously on the tops of the croissants. Reserve about a Tablespoon of the mixture to use after they have been baked. Bake uncovered for about 15 minutes.

Baste the leftover butter sauce on top. Optional: sprinkle the tops with poppy seeds.

Serve and enjoy your baked croissant sandwiches.
