Homemade Honey Mustard
Honey Mustard Dressing is so simple to make with only 3 ingredients. It tastes amazing and it works perfect as a salad dressing or dipping sauce!
AN EASY SALAD DRESSING OR DIPPING SAUCE
I really love this homemade honey mustard. I am not kidding when I tell you I make this at least 3 or 4 times a month. We go through it pretty quickly and it’s good on so many things! You can use it on salad or it can be a dipping sauce or a burger topping – whatever you can imagine, you can add it! I think I first started loving this when I ate at Chili’s years and years ago for the first time. I had their Chicken Crispers and this was the dipping sauce. After eating that, I had to go home and try to make some that tasted just like theirs. And I’ve been making it ever since!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
You can make as little or as much as you like of this stuff. All you need to remember is to measure out equal parts of each ingredient.
Use on any salad or as a dipping sauce for Homemade Chick-Fil-A Chicken Nuggets. It’s also good with just about any type of chicken and is an easy dip for some kids to use to eat more vegetables in. You can even slather this on fresh chicken breasts and bake in the oven or put on the grill to give it great flavor! This DIY Honey Mustard would also be fantastic on some Salmon or Grilled Chicken. Any and all fried foods, like French Fries are absolutely delicious in this sauce.
This sauce does need to be kept refrigerated. Store in a lidded container, like a mason jar. The dressing will stay fresh in the refrigerator for about a month

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE)
- mayonnaise– I prefer Hellman’s Real Mayo, Duke’s or JFG (a Tennessee brand) – I think they produce the best results. I have not tried this with mayo substitutes so I cannot tell you how those would turn out.
- honey – with this being honey mustard you can’t skip this ingredient. You can use your favorite local honey if you prefer.
- Dijon mustard– I used French’s, but if you have a different favorite brand, that should work too. It really should be dijon mustard for the best taste. You could use yellow mustard in a pinch.

HOW TO MAKE HONEY MUSTARD:
Pour all ingredients into a bowl. Whisk together. That’s it, so easy!

Put into a lidded container and store in refrigerator for up to 4 weeks.

Easy to make…used regular mustard instead of Dijon. Tasty…its a hit with my kid that loves Honey Mustard. Thank you!!!
Easily made, but sooo good.
Way better than any restaurants honey mustard!
Love hearing that – thank you Nick!! Appreciate you coming back to comment!
The best honey mustard! My go to, thank you!!
Using this recipe tomorrow can’t wait sounds wonderful thanks for sharing
can you use regular mustard in place of Dijon mustard
You won’t get the best flavor, it’ll be pretty tangy but you could use it in a pinch. For the best honey mustard flavor, use Dijon 🙂
Sooo delicious…best one by far i have ever had…thank you
Thank you for this recipe. My husband now prefers this over any I have ever made or purchased. You never cease to amaze me with your delightful bounty of recipes.
Awww Jeanette – thank you so much for that!! You are so sweet to take the time to come back and comment!
Best ever
So easy and so good.
Simple to make and super delicious
I’ll be making this soon! I love Honey mustard on my chicken. Never tried it on burgers. Thanks for all the great recipes
Hope you love it Linda – thanks so much!
This tastes delicious on your fabulous cream cheese sausage balls
Thank you Sallie!
Any particular brands of the condiments esp mayo & mustard maybe not the honey as much. Too many kinds of each out there. And I was raised on Kraft Miracle Whip & only realized in adulthood that it wasn’t really “mayo” but salad dressing. Took me years to get used to eating Helman’s Mayo but I like that better now.
Hi Marlene, with things like this, it’s really important to go with brands you love. Hellman’s mayo is one that is sold in most of the United States so that one is a solid choice. As for the dijon mustard I’ve used the Walmart Great Value Brand and I’ve used Grey Poupon. They both work well. 🙂
Can this honey mustard be canned in hot water bath or pressure cooker to keep or give as gifts to friends? And NO I have never posted anything on this site before. This shows me that the comments are not from the general public. Are they paid to say what they say? Fake
I have no idea where you’re going here, first you want me to help answer your question then you accuse me of fake comments. This is my website so I’ll do what I want. Goodbye ma’am. I will not answer a question after an insult. Go get your answer somewhere else.
We make Honey Mustard with Mayo, regular yellow mustard and corn syrup when we don’t have honey. Pretty good, but nothing compares to Captain D’S Honey Mustard…. I’ve never found anything as good as theirs….
I really cannot wait to try these dressings.
Hope you love them Marlene!
i am trying this recipe for my cream cheese sausage balls!!!
cant wait to try tonight
🙂
Thank you for the recipe. I've struggled to come up with a good honey mustard by winging it on my own. Now I realize it has to be Dijon (I always tried with regular mustard), honey and mayo. I never added the mayo and knowing to use equal amounts of all sure helps. Can't wait to try it!
SOOOO delicious!!
If you want to make a sauce that tastes like "Chick-fil-a Sauce", use mayo, a dash of regular mustard and bbq sauce…AMAZING!
Lorie
This recipe is another keep and it was so good with the sweet chicken nuggets. 🙂
Hi there – Am lovin' your site and all the fantabulous recipes I'm finding.
Had to chime in and tell you that my best friend of 30+ years and I have been making a recipe extremely similar to this for years and it's always fabulous. Only differences are we use regular mustard and a good dash of regular paprika. It's amazing how the paprika changes it!
From another Bama gal – Thanks so very much for a fabulous site!
Hugs

Easy, yummy, and versatile – that is a good recipe!
I make this same dressing and 1 of my 3 kiddos thinks it is so incredibly awesome!! She even swipes the remainder of the jar to go back to college with her if it's in the refrigerator. Just make a note on the jar when the mayo expires and keep this on hand…it's yummy!!
Yup, my favorite dressing I make it all the time (though sometimes I use yogurt instead of mayo). Looks great! 🙂
I love honey mustard dressing! It is so yummy over chicken breast cooked in the oven! Have a wonderful week my friend!
This recipe is perfection! I’ll never buy store-bought again!
I make this all the time. I've never used a recipe though. This is probably easier than a dollop of mayonnaise, a squirt of honey and a spoon of mustard, stir and taste. Add more of one, more of another and finally it's perfect but I have enough for an army. 🙂
My family loves dipping cheese in Honey Mustard. Thanks for another great dressing recipe!
I'm love this dressing recipe!
This would be perfect for dipping just about anything! Love simplicity of this recipe, Brandie!
