FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
This drink was originally served in a shot glass. It was also reportedly invented at the University of Alabama (or a bar nearby) in the 70’s but the origins are a bit hazy. Anyhow, the idea was that you took a shot and slammed it down. Hence – Alabama Slammer. It evolved into the cocktail we know and love today.
We use 3 different alcohols in this drink and they consist of amaretto, sloe gin and Southern Comfort.
Yes, it is more on the strong side. If you are not a fan of strong you can tone it down by using half of the alcohol called for in the recipe.
While this is the best way to combine your drink together you do not have to have one. A mason jar with a lid works as well or you can simply just stir everything together until combined.
Amaretto is a sweet Italian almond-flavored liqueur. The name brand most people associate with amaretto is Disaronno.
First of all, “sloes” are a fruit similar to a plum. Sloe Gin is a British red liqueur made with gin and sloes. I use Dekuyper brand.
Southern Comfort is a brand name for an American fruit-flavored whiskey liqueur.
Of course. I do think it’s best when made fresh so I like to whip them up as I go. Plus, everyone loves to see their drink shaken for them. 🙂

INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE)
